Abi
Hi my name is Abi. Since the age of 4 I have loved the water, at the age of 16, I was asked to become a Swimming Assistant. As I enjoyed this role, I decided to become a Swim Teacher during my A-levels. I am passionate, caring and hard-working, I love to interact with young people as well as help them to be the best swimmer they can be. I am currently doing a degree apprenticeship during the week, but I love swim teaching on Saturdays, finding it rewarding, positive and enjoyable.
Glen
Hi I'm Glen. I'm one of the level 2 swim teachers here at The Wave. My involvement with anything water based started a number of years ago as crew on an inshore lifeboat and my passion for swimming has never left me. I have swum competitively at National Level and competed in triathlons around the region. Since retiring after 30 years in the emergency services, I now continue my passion, teaching others to feel comfortable and confident in the water, with fun mixed in to make learning enjoyable.
Hannah
Hi, my name is Hannah! I have been teaching swimming for over 10 years, working with all ages—from pre-schoolers to adults. I first developed my love for swimming at these very same swimming lessons, and now, alongside my full-time career, I teach part-time to help swimmers build confidence, improve technique, and enjoy the water. My favourite stroke to swim and teach is breaststroke, and I’m the proud owner of “Bend, Star & SNAP!”. Whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your skills, I’m here to support you every step of the way!
Karen
Hi, my name is Karen. I qualified as a swim teacher in 2014. I joined the Littlehampton swim school in 2023 and I am possibly the shortest teacher there at the moment. My aims for the fabulous children I teach are for them to learn to swim and enjoy their lessons, gain self-confidence in the water while taking pride in their swimming achievements, and develop a lifelong love for swimming.
Katy
Hi, my name is Katy and I have worked in the leisure industry for many years. As a child, I attended swimming club and lifesaving club. In my younger years, I worked as a lifeguard at indoor and outdoor pools. I have been a full swimming teacher for many years and I have taught all age ranges and abilities. I am most happy teaching preschools and beginners as I love the process; it's very rewarding. I believe swimming is one of the most important skills we can give our children, enabling them to enjoy the water and be safe.
Laura
Hello, I am Laura and I am a qualified level 2 STA teacher, level 2 baby and pre-school and also qualified as a mermaid and mono fin instructor. I have been teaching for around 10 years now and I still am passionate and love my job, I find it rewarding watching the difference lessons weekly make to everyone who attends. I cannot tell you what age I enjoy the best as they are all so different and fun in different ways! The youngest I have taught is 8 weeks to the oldest of 83 years of age! I love seeing babies and children, along with parents thrive in confidence the more they come, not only is it a life skill but it also builds and help to bond, to trust, have social, emotional and physical skills. The best advice I can give any parent is “patience” give it time and you will see the benefits!
