#GettingEastSussexMoving is a 2-year campaign that aims to encourage people in East Sussex to be more active.
The campaign, which is coordinated by Public Health at East Sussex County Council in collaboration with a range of activity partners and providers, identifies and celebrates the wide range of amazing local places across the county where people can walk, cycle, swim, exercise and get active in a way that suits them, with messaging that highlights the benefits to health and wellbeing of becoming more active.
Each month has a theme, and for March the theme is: “Activity for people who are caring for others”.
Introducing the ‘We are Undefeatable’ campaign to promote participation in sport and activity for people with health conditions and disabilities, Sport England notes
One in four people in England live with a long-term health condition, and those in this group are twice as likely to be inactive, despite evidence that being active can help manage many conditions and reduce the impact and severity of some symptoms. Even small amounts of activity can make a significant difference to overall health and wellbeing.
The Getting East Sussex March theme aims to reinforce this messaging and provides guidance to people in where to go for next steps to getting more active with a disability or health condition. Themed to coincide with Young Carer’s Action Day on the 16 March 2025
The #GettingEastSussexMoving campaign ties in with the overarching #GettingSussexMoving campaign launched by Active Sussex, an organisation funded by Sport England, which is working towards addressing inequality and empowering everyone in Sussex to be active in a way that works for them.
