Guildford Lido All Set to Open for the 2025 Summer Season on Saturday 26th April

Freedom Leisure, one of the UK’s leading not-for-profit leisure trusts that manages the Lido on behalf of Guildford Borough Council, is looking forward to another exciting season. Finley Broekhuizen, the new Guildford Lido Manager, said:

"I am incredibly excited for my first summer season at Guildford Lido. This is such a special place and I cannot wait to welcome both returning visitors and new swimmers to enjoy everything the Lido has to offer."

Preparations have been well underway to ensure the Lido is in top condition for the opening day. Emma Beavis, Freedom Leisure’s Area Manager in Guildford, added:

"The team has been working hard behind the scenes to get Guildford Lido ready for the summer season. Whether you are here for lane swimming, a fun family day out or to simply relax by the pool, we are looking forward to another fantastic summer of outdoor swimming."

Over the years, Guildford Lido has become a hub for both recreational and fitness swimming. Since 2010, dedicated lane swimming sessions have expanded significantly. These sessions have grown from just 11 hours per week, to an impressive 29 hours per week of unrestricted lane swimming in 2025.

Season tickets go on sale from 1st April online, over the phone and in person (see opening hours) offering fantastic value for regular swimmers and families looking to make the most of the Lido’s pool and beautiful grounds throughout the summer months.

Cllr Catherine Houston, Lead Councillor for Commercial Services said: “We’re looking forward to another wonderful summer season of outdoor swimming at the Guildford Lido. This beautiful 50m pool is now over 90 years old, but each year it continues to give residents and visitors to Guildford weeks and weeks of outdoor enjoyment. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another fun filled and busy summer season.”

Guildford Lido officially opened in June 1933 and the Lido quickly became a popular destination for locals and visitors alike, offering a refreshing escape during the summer months. It has retained its original charm and continues to be a vital part of Guildford's recreational scene.

Today, the Guildford Lido is a cherished venue, featuring a 50-metre heated pool surrounded by picturesque parkland. It offers something for all ages including dedicated lane swimming sessions, general swimming, fun slides, a paddling pool and a children’s play area. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of food and drink options, with the Poolside Café serving a selection of hot and cold refreshments and Burrito Loco offering delicious Mexican cuisine.
