Thank you to everyone who attended our recent "Meet the Manager" sessions at GL1 Leisure Centre. We appreciate your time, feedback, and ideas. We received a wide range of comments throughout the day, and while there was plenty of variety, the update below focuses on the most common trends that came through.

Improved Communication
One of the common suggestions was the need for regular updates. We're pleased to share that we’ll be launching a monthly newsletter, which will include all the latest news, improvements, and upcoming events. This will be available via email, our app, on our website and displayed on noticeboards to ensure everyone can stay in the loop. 

Barton Pool Works – June
We wanted to keep you informed about scheduled maintenance at Barton Pool, which will take place in two phases— phase one in early June (new cables) and phase two (new control system) mid-June. These works will repair the cabling needed for the movable floor and also include investigation works across the rest of the pool area - this should restore the swimming pool back to being fully operational. We’ll communicate any changes to access or opening times in advance. 

Group Exercise Programme
We’re committed to strengthening our group exercise offering by training and recruiting additional instructors. This will allow us to expand the variety of classes and ensure better cover when needed. At present we have successfully appointed 5 new instructors at our new site Blackbridge who will be able to support with cover and 2 new Instructors for GL1.

Maintenance, Cleanliness & Team Expansion
We know that high standards of cleanliness and maintenance matter to you—and they matter to us too. That’s why we’re investing in our operational team and are pleased to announce that a new General Manager will be joining us in mid-May. In addition, we’ve confirmed a strong leadership team with Nikki as Operations Manager, George as Senior Duty Manager, and Jeanette and Bethany as Duty Managers. Together, they’ll help drive improvements across the centre.

New Information Boards
To help keep everyone informed, we’ve ordered more noticeboards for the centre. These will include customer update boards and ‘Meet the Team’ boards, so you can easily stay updated and get to know the faces behind GL1.

Ongoing Feedback & Next Steps
We’ll be holding more "Meet the Manager" sessions in the future, but in the meantime, we encourage you to continue sharing your thoughts using our online feedback form. A member of the management team will review and respond to every submission.
