Did you know?
That more than half of children aged seven to eleven years old are unable to swim a minimum of 25 metres unaided, meaning that just over one million children in the UK are potentially unsafe in and around water and therefore at risk of drowning!
Frequently Asked Questions
Most children are ready to try swimming lessons by the age of 4, at which point they can typically learn basic water survival skills such as floating, treading water and getting to an exit point. By age 5 or 6, they can usually master the front crawl. The important thing to remember is it’s never too late to learn how to swim!
Some children are more confident in the water and therefore will progress faster. Other children are slower to learn but can quite often become stronger and more proficient swimmers as they progress.
